Post Ranch's Food & Wine Weekend
November 5 & 6, 2010
Masterminded by Sierra Mar's Wine Director Dominique DaCruz, Post Ranch's second annual Food & Wine Weekend focuses on the best of old world wines with highlights from the new world.
To kick off this exciting event, on Friday night, Sierra Mar's Executive Chef Craig von Foerster creates his version of an elaborate Memphis-style barbecue. The bountiful dinner features Hog Island Oysters; Rob Baker, winemaker and master barbecue expert of Me and the Hound; Jonathan Roveto, AKA Pig Wizard; and more. Artisan breweries, a champagne booth and wine barrel tastings complement the meal and ensure no one goes thirsty.
On Saturday afternoon, guests wander the ranch's picturesque paths on a strolling tour. With map in hand, they'll journey on a lazy and meandering treasure hunt. Along the way, guests discover festive and bountiful booths to sip wines paired with delicious edibles. Assembled by Dominique for this special event, the eclectic selection ranges from world sparklers and orange wines to familiar favorites. To enhance the tasting experience, Chef Craig prepares small plates matched to each wine. Wine professionals, including importers and distributors, are on hand to discuss their offerings. A retail table will be available at Sierra Mar so guests can purchase the day's highlighted wines and enjoy them at home.
Saturday evening's sumptuous dinner bridges the old and new worlds to showcase distinctive elegance in wine-making and sustainability in food and wine. The classic, six-course menu with wine pairings begins with a Champagne reception at 7 pm. Dinner is served at 8 pm. Cal Stamenov, Chef and Culinary Director of Bernardus Lodge, Carmel Valley, joins Chef Craig to orchestrate the exceptional dinner.
Held on November 5 & 6, Post Ranch's Food & Wine Event ranges from $2,570 – 5,299, including two nights' accommodations, two special-event dinners at Sierra Mar, an afternoon wine-tasting presentation, breakfast daily and diverse activities.*
