Pet Policy

At Post Ranch Inn we strive to ensure the safety and preservation of our natural environment and delicate ecosystem, while also providing a serene, peaceful setting for all of our guests. To maintain this balance, pets are not allowed on property. However, service animals that are trained to perform tasks or assist with disabilities are permitted. Please note that pets that do not meet these criteria, including emotional support or comfort animals, are not permitted.

Cancellation & Change Policy

One night’s room and tax deposit are taken at the time of booking. Should a guest need to cancel or modify a reservation, guests must notify us at least 14 days in advance of their arrival date. Cancellations or changes made inside of 14 days of the arrival date will result in the forfeiture of the deposit. No-shows will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.

Rates, Taxes & Payment Methods

  • Rates are in U.S. dollars, are based on availability and are subject to change. Rates are subject to a nightly 10.5% occupancy tax, .195% California Tourism Assessment and a $7 daily Monterey County Tourism Tax. Post Ranch DOES NOT charge a resort fee.
  • Rooms may be guaranteed by credit card: Amex, Visa, MC, Diner’s Club or Discover.

Minimum Stay Requirement

A two-night minimum stay is required.

Maximum Room Occupancy

There is a maximum of two adults per room.

Gratuity

For your convenience, in lieu of cash gratuities, a card will be available in your room allowing you to recognize superb guest service by including a gratuity. The program is optional and there is no obligation to participate. Should you wish to participate, kindly present this card to reception upon your departure and the charge will be added to your final statement.

Please note: Gratuities for both our Food & Beverage and Spa staff are not included in this program. We encourage you to recognize these individuals at your discretion based upon the level of service they provide.

Drones

For reasons of safety and privacy, the use of drones or any other remote-controlled aircraft is strictly forbidden at Post Ranch Inn.

Post Ranch Inn is a non-smoking property. Smoking is not allowed in rooms or houses.

Traveling Time / Distance to Post Ranch

Post Ranch is located on the Big Sur coast off Highway 1, 30 miles south of Carmel, 150 miles south of San Francisco and 300 miles north of Los Angeles. The closest airport is Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), about a 50-minute drive to Post Ranch. Guests can also fly into San Jose International Airport (SJC – approximately 2 hours) or San Francisco International Airport (SFO – approximately 2.5 hours). Please note that on-demand transportation services such as Uber and Lyft generally do not operate in the Big Sur area. Please plan accordingly. For driving directions, please click here.

Does Post Ranch charge a resort fee?

No! Post Ranch does not charge a resort fee or any other hidden fees. In fact, we include a number of complimentary services, amenities and activities in your room rate including Daily Breakfast, Resort Activities (Daily Yoga/Meditation, Guided Nature Walks, Garden Tours and more), In-Room Mini-Bar, Valet Parking, Access to Pools and Fitness Center, Use of Lexus Vehicles (valid U.S. driver’s license required) and more.

Can I bring my pet?

Can I stay for one night?

While a two-night minimum stay is typically required, there may be exceptions. To inquire about one-night stays, please check our online booking calendar or call us directly (800) 527-2200.

Do you offer rollaway beds or cots?

No, we do not offer cots, rollaways or sleeper sofas.

How many people can stay in a room?

Two adults maximum in all rooms.

Is the restaurant open to the public?

Yes, Sierra Mar accepts a limited number of reservations from the general each day for Lunch and Dinner service. Reservations can be made by clicking here. Please note that Breakfast is exclusive to overnight guests.

Do I need reservations to eat at the restaurant?

Reservations are not required for lunch, but are strongly recommended. Reservations for dinner are required. Reservations can be made by clicking here. Hotel Guests should contact Reservations directly for reservations at Sierra Mar at (831) 667-2200.

Does your restaurant cater to dietary restrictions?

Absolutely! We are very sensitive to the dietary needs of all of our guests and are able to accommodate most dietary preferences and restrictions. Simply let us know in advance so that we are better able to serve you.

Is the Spa open to the public?

No, the Spa is available for overnight guests only.

Can I have a spa treatment in my guestroom?

Yes, spa treatments are available in your guestroom for a small fee. There is no additional fee for treatments in the Spa.

Do you offer ADA accessible rooms?

Yes, Post Ranch offers two fully accessible rooms.

What ADA features are available on the property?

Does Post Ranch host private events or group meetings?

  • Post Ranch is not a traditional “group” hotel and does not have any dedicated meeting space or facilities. As an intimate resort that caters to couples, we limit the maximum number of rooms a group can book together to 5 rooms. Depending upon your needs, we may be able to accommodate a very small group. For inquiries, please contact us at weddings@postranchinn.com.

Can I host my wedding at Post Ranch?

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes, gift certificates are available and can be purchased on our online Mercantile website.

Can I purchase any of the amenities found at Post Ranch?

Yes, many of the amenities found in guestrooms and around the property are available for purchase either on-site at the Mercantile or at our online Mercantile.
